Diet foods? You’ve got rocks in your head if you eat that stuff!

Paris Hilton says: “Only fat people drink diet soda!”  I say “Hell , don’t eat or drink that stuff!”

Why, you ask?  For these reasons:

Artificial sweeteners are unnatural to the body

Aspartame and other artificial sweeteners are man-made, unnatural chemicals that have significant health consequences, especially if you consume a lot of it over a long period of time.

I had a client once who had 8 sachets of Equal in her coffee 3 times a day!  I looked up aspartame on my trusty Chemical Maze app and showed her the possible side effects of aspartame.  They include rashes, weight gain, depression and kidney problems amongst many others.  She had ALL of these symptoms!  To her credit she cut out the sweetener and the diet soft drink immediately and was able to start to resolve her health issues.

So, if you aren’t already fat, regularly consuming artificial sweetener will make you fat!

Low fat doesn’t mean “good for weight loss”

Low fat or fat free diet foods on the other hand are often full of sugar.  Taking the fat out of something often takes out the flavour as well, so to compensate the manufacturers add more sugar!  Think of yoghurt!  While this may lower the actual calories of the food it doesn’t help the weight conscious as the over consumption of sugar will also make you gain weight especially around the belly.

Light food is misleading

Be mindful of what this actually means – light olive oil for example simply means light in colour.  It has the same calories as any other type of olive oil.  Olive oil is great though, don’t give that up!

The best self worth wants the best

Slim state theory (ie the philosophy of being slim) guides us to choose only what we love.  This is also true as a success strategy for other areas of your life, BTW!

If you choose something that is a compromise then you are sending a message to the world that you are not worth it.  If you eat it even though you don’t enjoy it or you’d really prefer the full fat, real sugar version then you are telling yourself that you can’t have what you really want.  The implication is, bluntly, you will be fat! And unfulfilled!

The Diet Industry Machine

Buying into the dieting mentality makes you vulnerable to diet industry hype and misinformation.  In my experience of working with people to regain their power around their eating and their weight, the complete avoidance of diet foods is required.
