Nutritional Medicines in the Supermarket

I was browsing through the supermarket and saw cherries for sale. Not something I generally think about in the middle of winter but there they are, all the way from the USA!  So I had a few and decided to look into their health properties.  Cherries are a natural source of melatonin and can help us sleep.  Cherries have also been shown in studies to assist with gout though you need to eat quite a few of them.  And the substance that makes cherries red, the anthocyanins, have been shown to reduce inflammation and pain and to have potent antioxidant effect.  So, grab a few tomorrow and enjoy!
