Those suffering congestion and mucous problems might want to consider reducing their dairy consumption (dairy is mucous forming).
Here is a recipe for almond milk, excellent in smoothies: For about 400 mls of almond milk, boil 80g of whole almonds for 5 minutes. Drain then remove almond skins. Place almonds and 420mls water in a blender and blend till smooth. Filter through muslin cloth if you’d like it even smoother. Use on cereals, in smoothies but don’t try making cappuccinos out of it! It’s not a good look.
