I remember back in the dark ages when I was a good Catholic girl, I made a vow for Lent not to get angry any more. I’ve no idea if I was an especially angry little girl or not, but being a redhead carries a heavy burden from people expecting that you are an angry person 😉 So being the strong-minded gal I was, I stopped expressing my anger.
It wasn’t till decades later, that I remembered my vow and realised the toll it had taken on me. Because we are human, there are endless opportunities to feel frustrated or angry, but if we don’t express them regularly – and I said, ‘express’, not ‘dump’ – then it can lead to depression, illness and poor relationships.
So these days I luuuurve my anger, and am learning better and better how to feel it, acknowledge it, express it and use that energy to propel me into healthy action.
