What can I do about emotional eating?

I can’t control my eating?  I’m feeling totally out of control and disgusted with myself.  My emotional eating is running my life and I don’t know what to do.

To be honest, I believe dealing with emotional eating requires the support of professionals. I’m going to say, it’s nearly impossible to get through it entirely on your own!

Emotional support might come in the form of counselling, energy healing, homeopathy or kinesiology.  You might also like to do self-help things like use essential oils, Bach or Bush flowers or homeopathics. Mainstream medicine also is very supportive so you might ask your GP for a referral.

A naturopath will help you with nutritional support for your brain chemicals like dopamine and nutritional deficiencies as well as work with you on finding the cause.

As a naturopath, I would want to rule out carbohydrate addiction as this can really look like emotional eating.  I’d also check if you’re undereating especially at breakfast.  Insufficient breakfast sets you up for bingeing at the end of the day.

Addictions and emotional control issues are often a symptom of the solar plexus chakra being out of balance and so healing our relationships with our mother may also be helpful.

As someone who has experienced emotional eating and binge eating disorder, I’ve found I had to reach out and get the support I needed to really heal. And it worked wonderfully.  I believe a combination of health professionals is required.

Much love to you,
