What are your symptoms telling you?

Do you wonder what your sore toe, or frequent burping actually mean? Yes, it could be a vitamin deficiency or your stress but symptoms have deeper meanings too.

Symptoms (both physical and emotional) are the soul’s way of bypassing the mind to get a message to us.
So how do you decipher the language of the body and emotions?”

This week I fell quite ill (yes naturopaths do get sick – we’re human too!). I was at the gym and lying on my back with a block under my shoulders.  When I went to get up my head started spinning and with it came intense nausea.  Long story short, I ended up pooing and vomiting in the gym bathrooms with a lovely young girl wiping the vomit out of my hair! As the Millennials would say… Eeiuww, right!  Then to top it off they called the ambulance!  I’m not used to so much fuss!

Anyway, after 24 hours in bed recovering, I started to wonder why I was sick.  Why nausea, why dizziness and why now? I could have looked it up in Louise Hay but I decided to meditate on it.  What I discovered was: “I feel tied up in knots”.  Fear was contorting my innards.  But fear of what?

You see, I left my corporate job just 5 weeks ago to run my business full time.  Things have been going overwhelmingly well.  I very quickly had a corporate contract, many new clients, networking meetings and new, exciting opportunities kept coming every day.  It felt like everything I touched turned to gold.  I was so excited!  This was new to me.

Self-sabotage had always been my old friend and she didn’t like things going well.
So, I put the kybosh on it.  Got sick and slowed it all down.  Had to cancel a yoga class, a networking event and a client!  The doubts crept in and I started to berate myself “what makes YOU think you can be successful?!”.

Fortunately, with gentleness, patience and doing the inner work, I’m consciously working through it.  Breathing, presencing, using my oils, talking to trusted friends, seeking guidance from my health practitioners and meditating.  I know I’m going to be ok.

Then I went and looked it up in Louise Hay:
Dizziness – Flight.  Scattered thinking.  A refusal to look.
Nausea – Fear. Rejecting an idea or experience.

Perfect!
